“Personal Strategic Planning”

Description: The workshop will explore how to set and meet objectives that involve yourself, work, and your family. Our Expert Speaker will guide you on how to define and achieve success by helping you:
-Identify short term and long term goals
-Create a strategy to achieve those goals
-Organize and plan your schedule to avoid burning out
-Maintain a healthier work-life balance
Expert Speaker: Shereen Hamadeh is the Director of Foundation Programs at University Foundation College. She also balances a family of two young girls, studying for her Doctorate, and speaking at conferences. Shereen has a passion for both education and inspiring individuals to achieve their goals. She has been in education in Qatar for over 8 years where she has worked in strategic planning at the national level as well as with private institutes. She has recently found a way to apply the technical aspects of strategic planning to individual lives.

Under the patronage of Qatar Foundation for Social work, Wifaq is hosting a series of activities and celebrations for Qatar Family Day. “Change your Child’s Behaviour”
Time: Sunday April 14, 2019 from 6pm to 7:30 pm

Description: The workshop will explore:
-Internal vs. External motivations of children, and how they reflect on their long-term and short-term behavior
-Verbal and behavioural routines that are scientifically motivated to promote positive self-image and internalization of good behavior
-It also explores when and how to administer rewards and punishment and how to deal with whining and disobedience.
Expert Speaker: Dr. Kareem Darwish is a principal scientist in the Qatar Computing Research Institute, HBKU. His area of expertise lies at the intersection of computer science, linguistics, and social sciences. He has authored dozens of scientific publications, and three books including one on social psychology. He has an Arabic social psychology YouTube channel that addresses a variety of issues including raising children, cognitive biases, and group psychology. He received his PhD from the University of Maryland, USA and was previously a scientist at Microsoft and IBM, and a faculty member at the German University in Cairo and Cairo University.

Creating An Inclusive Classroom. Our expert speaker will discuss:
-Practical strategies on how to create an inclusive classroom
-Supporting and engaging students at all levels
-Modifying a classroom setting and curriculum to be inclusive
Rebekah Lentz is the head teacher of Grade 2 at GEMS American Academy, Qatar and has been teaching for 14 years. She has a master’s degree in international education, an international teacher’s certificate, and is certified to teach students with ELL needs and reading difficulties. She taught for 7 years in the regular classroom and 7 years as a student support teacher for students with SEN and ELL needs. She has taught in Japan, Trinidad, Egypt, and Qatar and has successfully created inclusive learning environments for her students along the way. Rebekah’s passion is creating an inclusive classroom where all students are supported and celebrated.
